Glam Libation Thurday- Framboise Lambic

by Lisa

It’s Glam Libation Thursday, and of course you know the Glam Society always has something HAUTE to recommend. Today’s recommendation is Framboise beer, or what is more commonly referred to as a Lambic.
I know, I know, many of you probably think beer is the antithesis of chic, but trust me; you have not had anything that tastes like THIS… Let me preface this recommendation by saying, I am a beer girl. I mean give me a cold Corona (lite!) with lime, and I am in my world. Plus, there are just some things that just taste inherently better with beer- Maryland Blue Crabs, anything cooked on the grill, you get the picture. Though I am a certified beer lover, I am very discerning in my preferences.
I had the opportunity to experience Framboise Lambic while enjoying a fab burger at my new favorite Burger Joint- Abbeys thanks to a recommendation from our Foodie Fashionista Stacie Glam!
In any case, Framboise is French for raspberry, and before hops were used in beer, fruits were included in the fermentation process. Lambic is a very distinctive tasting sweet beer, which is only brewed a region of Belgium just south of Brussels.

If you’ve ever tasted Chambourd, which is a Raspberry flavored liquor, and enjoyed the taste you will LOVE Framboise Lambic.

Cheers!

There is always a positive to a negative: Opposites attract!

Remember the infamous science lesson about magnetic energy. The most noteworthy part of the lesson was the way the positive end of the magnet attached to the negative end of the magnet. As the teacher demonstrated what happens when two positive ends or two negative ends were put together, you noticed that the two did not attract. Take a look at your life and what you attract as it can have detrimental effects on your well being. Many people say I just want all positive energy around me…let’s be real! Positive energy all the time would be great, however we all deal with some negatives in our life. If we can grow to understand that the negative has a positive attraction we have won half the fight. Negativity helps us to grow stronger and wiser for things to come. If my life were all positive all the time I would be mentally drained and very naïve. In the same manner, if my life consisted of negativity all the time I would most likely have a dark presence both internally and externally. It is so nice to know that there is a balance between positive and negative…with negative there is a positive attraction and with positive there is a negative attraction. As you venture throughout the rest of your day reflect upon the opposites attract principle. For each negative think of a positive and for each positive think of a negative!
Here are a few tips to help you:

*Rethink obstacles-think through the obstacle instead of letting it get the best of you. If plan A does not work, consider plan B. If too much for you seek professional assistance.

*Speak true-If you are feeling positive speak it. If you are feeling negative speak it.

*Look for small victories and work through the defeats
Remember when life hands you lemons, you can enjoy the sour taste of the lemon or add sugar and water and make a mean lemonade. Either way the opposites attract!

Curvy Girl Couture

It’s Monday Glami’s and as usual we are looking to bring you the hautest and the latest on the fashion scene! Curvy glami’s know how challenging it is to find a designer to embrace curves and that is precisely why we love the designer Monif C.
The mother daughter design team of Monif Clarke and Elaine Clarke are unapologetic in their design efforts for the woman who is larger than a size twelve. These ladies recognize that a woman’s curves are reason to celebrate, not something to be hidden behind huge, shapeless tents. Monif C knows that woman want to be sexy regardless of size.
Here are a few of our favorite items from this fabulous dynamic duo design team… check them out and tell us what you think!

Foodies Love Friday - The Inn at Little Washington

I love being in love, don't you? I'm one of those crazy people that believe that there is a direct correlation between love and food; but then again I also think there is a correlation between food and fashion but that's another story for another day. Anyway, once upon a time when I was in love, I was taken to a place in Washington, VA that was so special, just the mere mention of this place, to this day, brings a tear to my eye. The Inn has a reputation that precedes itself and you have to shonuff shonuff be someone that is worthy of the expense. Expensive? You betcha! But boy just thinking about it makes the little baby hair on the back of my neck stand and salute! "We both love food and tonight, I wanted to use our love of food to show you how much I love you," he said. When I realized where he had taken me I asked, "Can you afford this? Can we afford this?" "You can never put a price tag on love." And while that may be true, it was quite a few weeks before we went out again. That night a memory was made and later, he was thanked WELL!!!!

Wellness support in numbers...

No matter what we experience in our lives, there is always someone else who has experienced the same thing. Whether one is coping with grief, medical conditions, addictions, or behaviors there is a familiar word called support that is designed to help you address the needs of you.

Support groups are a place for people to give and receive both emotional and practical support as well as to exchange information. The groups are a valuable resource — a place where people can share information, get confirmation, educate others, or just let off steam.

In addressing wellness needs, there are times when a support group can assist with healing. In searching for a support group it is important to remember that if the group does not feel right to you or does not match your needs, try a different group as there are many options available.

In addition, you can always start you own support group. Creatively name it, decide upon a meeting location, identify a target population, get the word out, and build upon the natural relationships that the group can bring.
